Stacking Up Success: B1 Forklift Refresher Training at Buywise

Tim Benton • June 9, 2026

Keeping experienced forklift operators safe, skilled and confident in a fast-paced retail warehouse environment.

TL;DR:

  • Aaron, Damian and Matt completed their B1 Forklift Refresher training.
  • Training took place on-site at Buywise in Newport.
  • Refresher courses reinforce safe habits and update best practice.
  • Operators trained using their own forklift and working environment.
  • Investing in refresher training helps maintain workplace safety and efficiency.

Experience Counts – But So Does Staying Up to Date

Recently, I had the pleasure of delivering B1 Forklift Truck Refresher training for Aaron, Damian and Matt at Buywise in Newport.

As experienced operators, they already had the practical knowledge needed for the job, but refresher training is all about reinforcing good habits, brushing up on current best practice and ensuring operators continue to work safely and confidently.

The day involved a combination of theory and practical assessment, giving each delegate the opportunity to demonstrate their skills while revisiting the principles that keep both operators and those working around them safe.

Why Refresher Training is So Important

It's easy to think that once you've been driving a forklift for years, there's nothing new to learn.

In reality, even experienced operators can develop shortcuts or habits that don't always reflect current guidance or the safest way of working.

A B1 refresher course provides the opportunity to revisit essential topics including:

  • Daily pre-use inspections
  • Load stability and safe handling techniques
  • Manoeuvring in confined warehouse spaces
  • Safe stacking and de-stacking
  • Working around pedestrians and other workplace traffic
  • Current health and safety legislation and operator responsibilities

A refresher isn't about catching people out—it's about keeping standards high and giving operators the confidence that they're still working safely and efficiently.

"The best operators are the ones who never stop learning. A refresher course is a chance to sharpen your skills and make sure safe working remains second nature."

Well Done to the Team

Congratulations to Aaron, Damian and Matt on successfully completing their B1 refresher course.
