Double the Machines, Double the Momentum: A Busy Week for Plant Training on the Isle of Wight

Experienced 360 Excavator and Dumper training running side-by-side as demand for skilled operators continues to grow.

TL;DR:

  • Charlie and Rob completed Experienced 360 Excavator training ahead of launching their new venture
  • Reuben, Ash, and Harvey undertook Experienced Dumper training at Wight Contractors
  • Demand for skilled plant operators continues to rise across the Isle of Wight
  • On-site training allows delegates to train using real workplace equipment
  • Wight Training Services is busier than ever with plant and machinery courses

It’s been another busy week here at Wight Training Services, with two separate plant training jobs running at the same time across the Isle of Wight — something that’s becoming more and more common as demand for qualified operators continues to grow.

While one group was getting stuck into Experienced 360 Excavator training, another was completing Experienced Dumper training with the team at Wight Contractors.

Days like this really show how much the construction, groundwork, and maintenance industries on the Island are moving forward.

Charlie and Rob spent the day sharpening up their skills on the 360 excavator as they prepare to launch their own new venture.

Both already had operating experience, so the course focused on safe working practices, machine checks, precision control, and operating efficiently in realistic site conditions.

Training experienced operators is always rewarding because it’s not just about passing a test — it’s about refining habits, improving safety awareness, and making sure operators are working to current industry standards.

The compact excavator they were using proved ideal for the sort of groundwork and landscaping projects many local businesses are now taking on. From trenching and grading through to working in tighter spaces, these smaller machines remain hugely versatile across the industry.

Everyone at Wight Training Services would like to wish Charlie and Rob the very best of luck with their new business venture. It’s always great to see local operators taking the next step and building something for themselves.

As Tim Benton puts it:

“There’s a lot of opportunity out there at the moment for skilled plant operators. It’s brilliant to see people investing in themselves and doing things properly from the start.”

A Busy Time for Training

Running two separate courses in the same week is becoming the norm lately, and it’s a good reflection of how active the local industries are right now. More companies are recognising the value of properly trained staff, particularly when it comes to plant machinery and workplace safety.

One of the biggest advantages of on-site training is that delegates learn using the actual machines and environments they work with every day. That means the training is practical, relevant, and immediately useful once the course is complete.

Whether it’s a compact excavator, tracked dumper, counterbalance forklift truck, or access equipment, the goal is always the same — helping operators work safely, confidently, and professionally.

If you’re looking for practical, accredited plant or forklift training on the Isle of Wight, Wight Training Services delivers professional on-site courses tailored to your workplace and equipment.

From excavators and dumpers to forklift trucks and access platforms, training is designed around real working environments to help operators gain confidence and competence quickly.

Whether you’re searching for flt training near me or need experienced operator refresher courses, Wight Training Services are here to help.
